In YWAM Scotland, there is no distinction between the sacred and the secular and our staff serve in a variety of ways that are all valued. Whether you are involved as DTS staff, cooking, building maintenance, arts & worship or prayer on the streets, everyone is involved in the broader call to the frontiers through advocacy, prayer and outreach. And it is our hope that whatever your daily work you can also pursue your ministry passions in some way throughout the year.
Over the next five years we hope to grow in numbers and in excellence as we pursue intimacy with God, His purposes in ministry and skills that will enhance our lifelong Christian service.
We are an international community of multi-generational, interdenominational committed Jesus-followers.
There are about 70 staff plus 40 of their family members and we’re joined by trainees and mission builders throughout the year.

Our immediate needs and vision include strengthening our maintenance and communications teams, broadening our DTS staff and re-building our youth ministry.
But we want to live out the YWAM values of championing young people and being visionary and we invite you to share your ideas and dreams with us and let’s see how we can build something together!
Work duties are built into our foundational training course not only to share the workload of each YWAM community but also because they provide an excellent framework for discipleship. As we work alongside each other – talking through what we’re learning, sharing life experiences – we sharpen each other’s perspectives.
And building bonfires and slinging hammers does wonders to relieve any stress! If you’re handy and practically-minded and skilled, come join us to lead the maintenance teams at either base location. You’ll have the opportunity to breathe life into our buildings and model life to our trainees as you lead work duty teams and engage the community in looking after their home base.

So what might your dream job look like? Do you have a heart for families and also like to write? You could help develop family ministries and be part of our communications team. Are you a dancer who’s also a film-maker? Bring your talents and build a dance troupe creatively expressing God’s love through dance and film. Do you have a heart for addicts? Come and minister to the broken in urban areas.

You can take a look at our training bases, connect with a regional team, or be part of one of our national teams. Often our staff have a major and a minor – working in one area most of their time and supporting another ministry during the rest of their week or during peak times of the year.

If you have a heart for missions and a head for admin it might seem the two don’t go together – we disagree!
Bring your administrative skills to the missions field and you have the incredible potential to release a whole range of ministries into the nations. When we get the infrastructure right, we build a supportive platform to multiply and release ourselves and others into service.
Within YWAM Scotland, you can combine your accounting role with another ministry passion as many of the financial functions can be part-time roles.

Gardeners, cooks, carpenters, librarians, accountants and all sorts of other practically-minded folks have served as mission builders in Scotland over the years.
It’s been a great partnership as they’ve brought their servant-hearts and love of missions and we’ve fuelled their passion for the nations and provided a prayerful and diverse community to call home for a season.
Mission builders are usually based at one of our training locations. You can contact the Locations directly here to find out about opportunities with their team.
There is no requirement for a DTS to be a mission builder but there is an application process.
These are unpaid, volunteer positions where you, like all our YWAM staff and trainees, are responsible to cover your own living expenses.
