The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the largest arts festival in the world and takes place every August for three weeks in Scotland’s capital city.
Shine – Fringe Festival Outreach
Shine is YWAM Scotland’s annual outreach to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
As the world’s largest arts festival, the Edinburgh Fringe is a fantastic opportunity to share the hope of Christ with people from around the world. During Shine you’ll share in a community of believers who love the arts and take Christ to the streets through street performances, outdoor prayer spaces, artistic intercession and creative evangelism.
If you have a creative expression or creative arts team, get involved! The outreach runs in early August each year.
Here are some impressions from previous Shine outreaches:
Communities of Artists
The Arts Collective of Paisley
The Arts Collective of Paisley exists to build relationships among local creatives of all kinds, to inspire and provide resources for personal and artistic development, and facilitate social action through the arts to positively transform our community.
Our goal is enable artists to discover their creative potential and Creator.
Serve with your Talents
A few of our staff are published authors and desire to develop their skills and support other authors.
Practically, writers are needed in all areas of ministry helping us tell the story of YWAM Scotland and communicate the love of Christ. Be in touch to talk about how your love of words can become a missional expression.
Across Scotland, worship expressions are growing.
In YWAM Scotland we have a long tradition of building community and a positive presence in the Scottish music scene. The Shine outreach during the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh is another amazing opportunity for musicians to showcase their talent and build missional communities. We’re also building worship opportunities out of Paisley and through the School of Worship there.
Let’s talk about your passion for music and how that can flourish in Scotland.
The beauty of God’s creation in Scotland inspires artists of all kinds.
Whatever your medium, come join us and celebrate God’s goodness and His good news through your art and in connecting with and encouraging artists in communities across the nation.
Artists from around Europe, the UK and the United States have been collaborating since 2013 to bring a European Gathering together in 2015!
We know God is raising up an army of artists and our vision for this weekend is a powerful time of worship, mentoring & creative expression centered in the Presence of God and the community of artisans – both master & emerging. We believe this will be a very significant gathering and look forward to a time of refreshing, renewal and rekindling of vision as God’s army of Kingdom Creatives.
YWAM Scotland hosts these gatherings at the Seamill Centre as part of our strategic partnerships with other organisations.
Through a partnership with Light & Life, art and prayer combine to provide a powerful tool for sharing Jesus in unexpected places.
Light & Life is a group of ordinary people, each with different backgrounds and stories, who have found spiritual fulfilment and freedom through Jesus.
‘Spiritual’ rather than ‘religious’, the aim is to show people true Christian spirituality by demonstrating the Jesus of the bible through love, signs, wonders and miracles. We do this by combining creative gifts (e.g. art, music and massage) with prophecy and healing, allowing people to have life changing experiential encounters.
Often an artist is seeking to express that which is impossible for them to explain. There is a mystery to our faith, and when we assume that every question must always be answered, we create an unhealthy expectation of the Christian life. Art teaches us that we can have a genuine interaction with something or someone even when we are left with questions. Artists remind us that true knowledge and exhaustive knowledge are not the same thing.
